Nickelodeon

Being a part of the Live Stories team for Nickelodeon was a lot like being a part of a mini agency. We did everything for all social platforms (with our priority being Instagram) from ideation, to production, and to publishing. When it came to creation, we would capture footage on set for our Nickelodeon shows and then edit it together for stories, Snapchat, and TikToks. This is where my video editing and graphic design skills come into play. We would also try to utilize the in-app text and tools best we could so kids would think the stories looked accessible and like they could do it themselves, but we always tried our best to make our use of in-app tools look extra impressive.

Also, each person on our 5 person team was assigned to focus on different shows. My shows were iCarly, Avatar: The Last Airbender, All That, It's Pony, The Substitute, The Crystal Maze, Nick Jr., Unleashed, Top Elf, NickRewind, TeenNick, Rugrats, and That Girl Lay Lay. Creating social content for these shows was a lot of fun, but we also made sure we were always looking to our analytics and for other sources of inspiration to see how we could improve and make more enjoyable content for kids.

It was a strange and wonderful world over at Nickelodeon and I enjoyed every minute of it! Hope you enjoy these stories!

Making this Instagram Story not only made a huge impact in social (it got nominated for a Shorty Award!), but also on me. I am embarrassed to admit it, but I didn’t know much about Juneteenth before being assigned to create this story. Although, I learned a lot while researching and writing the script for talent and can’t wait to celebrate the holiday this year.

I loved making this story because I got to work with different Nickelodeon characters than I usually get to like Lincoln Loud and SpongeBob.

The story ended up doing pretty well and became our 44th best performer of all time with 1.1 million total impressions, but is our 4th best performer of all time in regard to average views per slide.

This Instagram Story is one of my favorites because I pulled inspiration from the old quizzes I used to do in magazines while growing up. I thought this was a perfect way to combine the maze and competition aspects of the show.

This was one of the most unique stories I have ever made and can’t wait to try this format again for a different show.

This Instagram Story was so fun to make because I got to attend the Haunted Carnival to capture the footage. I got to work with the talent to capture selfie-style footage as well as my own. I then made the story, which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience because I was able to create it in a spooky and dark style. I normally don’t get to create content like that.

The “Tap & Hold” story format is one we often do for Nickelodeon stories. It lent itself nicely to The Substitute because this show revolves around many looks.

These stories don’t typically “perform” high because there are no engaging features/stickers being utilized. There’s no way to track how many taps we got on the slide, but it is a fun story format to use.

One of my favorite Nickelodeon shows to work on has been Unleashed because I love animals! And because the show was focused on animals and fun, I was able to create some of the silliest content I have ever made.

This Instagram Story was so fun to make and one of the most unique. This story was focused on the sound, which isn’t something most people listen to on social media. For that reason, I’m really proud that this story was an average performer for us.
